To begin with....

I, like most people in this situation, have been big my whole life. I was very active in my teens so managed to slim down a bit but have never been small. I got a desk job as i got a bit older and put on some weight and during my second pregnancy developed gestational diabetes which turned into Type 2. that day I weighed 336 lbs.
I joined Weight Watchers that day and lost 50 lbs in 6 months! Then I hit a brick wall. No matter what I did I could not lose anymore. I got discouraged and stopped trying.
After a car accident and the subsaquent treatment got me into massage school, I managed to not gain more during school but still tettered on the edge of 280ish.
I managed my diabetes through diet for a few years then started oral medications. Those did well but I started becoming resistant and the dosages got bigger.
I was looking at moving to insulin.
My husband, the always talkative moderator of I see lead people, found that a co-worker had the band surgery and was doing well having our mutual insurance cover it so I began some research.

Between him and myself we got all the info so that on my 32nd birthday I spent the evening at an informational meeting and had my band put in on September 22, 2009.

At my first pre-op appointment I weighed in at 288 lbs. Today, 5 months later, I just hit 250 lbs.

It has been an interesting time learning how to eat and making time for the gym. I find myself now wanting to reach out and talk to others that have had the same or simular procedures.
